Running a successful business can be rewarding but it can also be difficult and time-consuming.  As a small operation, it is often the job of the business owner to manage the administrative aspects of the venture in addition to generating revenue.  That said, a great habit to put into practice to ensure that you are ready to receive that first kind of business primitive.  Sounds like something that existed before social networking platforms and pinging and tweeting.  But most of us know the annoying little feeling of mindlessly autosaving a document only to realize you don’t know where you saved it.  For businesses already utilizing bookkeeping software like Quickbooks, you know that one of the real advantages of such a program is that it only takes minutes to set up the chart of accounts, items, lists and classes.  The investment of those first few minutes can save owners quite a few hours of work in the long run.

So, here is a quick list of twenty all-time favorite small business and upstart file system categories.  Perhaps you could manage with seven. This is just a list of ideas to use as a starting point for organization within your business.

  1. Mortgage / Notes
  2. Rent
